Life Gardens – Malawi

The Life Garden ministry that IAFR supports in partnership with There is Hope and Thrive for Good has made a life-saving difference in Dzaleka Refugee Camp. People who are living on less than $1 a day, and who are prevented from working to make a living, have now become trained gardeners providing nutrient dense food for their families. This community-based organic gardening initiative is now spreading across the camp of 65,000+ residents bringing hope and nourishment to families, churches, and communities.

In addition to providing practical support to residents, IAFR partners with Inua Advocacy inuaadvocacy.org. This organization of excellent resident leaders seeks to inform and implement policy change and protection for refugees in Malawi.

We also partner with Health Partners International of Canada HPIC to provide an annual shipment of medical supplies that stock the chronically under-resourced medical clinic in the camp. This clinic serves both camp residents and the host community, a catchment area of over 80,000.
